Back on!!!!

I know I said I was going to wait until spring break to start my "Master Cleanse" aka Detox Fast, however I realized that life is short and why should i put off something for "tomorrow" when i could do it today? I am so used to procrastination and putting things off until tomorrow. I know it will be hard and challenging fasting while at work and school, however if i don't do it now, i will continue to make excuses and "tomorrow" will never come...
I am excited and optimistic to begin my 10 day cleansing fast. I have never taken on a challenge of this sort before. I will be testing myself both physically and mentally. Mind over matter....
I have decided to make this more of a spiritual journey and focus on self reflection. I believe it is important to take care of ourselves not only physically but mentally and spiritually as well...
I just made a cup of my laxative tea (hoping it wont make me nauseous like last time, otherwise i will have to switch teas...), then its off to bed... I am actually looking forward to the SWF only because i know its a great way to clean my body internally and flush out the toxins that have accumulated.

As salaam wa alaykum :)
First of all, congrats on taking the step to detox and all masha'allah..im tryina be healthy and all as well. definitely not easy lol :P

But id like to ask you...are you wanting to fast "every" day for 10 days? If so, then we are advised to fast every "other" day not every day.

The Prophet (peace be upon him) said to `Abd Allah b. `Amr b. al-`Âs: “Fast one day and break your fast one day. This was the fast of David (peace be upon him), and it is the best of fasts.”

`Abd Allah b. `Amr then said: “I can do better than that.”

The Prophet (peace be upon him) replied: “There is no fast better than that.” [Sahîh al-Bukhârî (1840)]

This hadîth shows us that a Muslim might wish to impose upon himself something that is not recommended in Islam – and maybe even disliked or unlawful – thinking that he is doing something virtuous and good.

Plus if you fast every single day, it takes a toll on ur ibaadah and makes you weak in ur obligatory acts of worship. The only exception is Ramadan or during the 6 days of shaban. Insha'allah you can eat in proportion following the sunnah and fast every other day and that should be fine :)

Just a humble opinion from ur fellow sis in Islam. And im sorry if i got it wrong just incase your not intending to fast every day for the next 10 days.

Walaikum Asalaam Sis,

Thanks for the comment =)
Actually the 10 day fast is not a "real" fast but a juice fast... For 10 days you drink lemonade/cayenne pepper/maple syrup with water as well as drink a laxative tea in the evening and do a salt water flush in the morning. You can read more about it on my earlier blogs =)
I agree that in islam we are supposed to fast the sunnah fasts monday and thursday, however im not doing a typical fast, just a liquid fast to cleanse out the toxins in my body!
